Elevate Your Space with High-Performance Wood Artistry

In the High Rockies, your floors face a rigorous environment that demands more than just a surface-level coating. We believe the finishing process is the soul of your floor—it’s where durability meets raw, natural beauty.

The Mastery of Natural Oil

While traditional polyurethanes “plasticize” your wood with high-VOC chemicals that sit on top like a sheet of plastic, we take a different approach. As Woca Natural Oil certified professionals trained overseas in Denmark, we specialize in finishes that penetrate deep into the grain. This protects the wood from within while preserving its organic texture and breathability.

Our Signature Mountain Shield Hybrid System

For those seeking the ultimate balance of aesthetics and resilience, we offer our proprietary Mountain Shield finish. This hybrid system combines the deep-penetrating protection of natural oils with a specialized protective topcoat, specifically engineered to withstand the unique climate of the mountains.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you use European natural oil finishes instead of polyurethane?

Natural oil finishes penetrate the wood rather than sitting on top like polyurethane. This protects from within, maintains the wood’s natural feel and breathability, and allows for easy spot repairs. When you get a scratch on an oil-finished floor, you’re not scratching the finish — you’re scratching the wood itself, which can be touched locally rather than refinishing the entire floor.

We hold Woca certifications and trained at their facility in Denmark, but we use several types of natural oil finishes — not just one brand. Each has different properties for different applications, and we match the product to your specific situation.

Our signature hybrid approach combines natural oils with a protective topcoat. The oil brings out the wood’s natural beauty and penetrates deep protection, then we lock it in with a durable topcoat. This gives you the best of both worlds — the rich, natural look of oil with the durability of a protective finish.

Our proprietary reactive stain process uses ammonia to react with the tannins in oak, creating colors you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a tedious, specialized process that requires extensive prep work, but the result is immaculate — and virtually impossible to replicate.

Oil-finished floors require more maintenance than polyurethane — but they’re easier to repair. You’ll use specific soaps with oil in them and occasionally add a maintenance coat. The tradeoff is worth it for many homeowners: a floor that ages beautifully and can be refreshed locally rather than fully refinished.

Not every situation calls for oil. Some homeowners prefer the durability of polyurethane; others have high-traffic or high-moisture situations where oil isn’t ideal. We offer the full range and recommend what is actually right for your situation.

Yes — but the right application matters. We’ve installed oil-finished floors in some of the valley’s finest luxury homes. The key is proper prep, the right product choice, and often lock it in with our hybrid topcoat system for maximum durability at altitude.
