Many flooring companies here in the valley will sell you whatever they can profit from the most. Or, they will sell you a product which is on closeout from the wholesale distributors in Denver or the product from whichever sales rep recently took them out to lunch at the Brewery. They put zero thought or compassion into which floor is right for you and for your home. Certain floors are just not right for certain homes and environments.
We too have accounts with the Denver distributors and can offer every product that our local competitors have. In fact, we have used most of them and we know which products are great , which products are good and which products are bad. We will be honest with you and tell you which product is right for your home.
Furthermore, we have painstakingly studied the molecular structures of different species of woods, studied and tested the various engineered wood floor constructions, traveled the world to visit manufacturing plants, and attended global trades shows. This is all done to further our knowledge on what floors and floor products are available and that are right for you. It’s called "educating ourselves". Why? Because we care!
CERTIFIED INSTALLATIONS
If you want a wood floor to be installed properly, there really are no shortcuts: time, expertise and unstinting meticulousness are essential ingredients in achieving a top-class installation. Nothing less than the skills of a fully trained cabinetmaker will suffice to get it absolutely right – which is why we employ cabinetmakers as opposed to floor installers: they are two quite different trades, with quite different mindsets. The result is that a VVH installation guarantees perfection, whereas the installations of many others frequently aim at best to hastily achieve an acceptable standard.
WATER DAMAGE REPAIR
We are experts at hardwood floor water damage repair and restoration. If the water damage hardwood floor has suffered excessive expansion which causes damage to the wood, it will have to be removed. We will tear out the wood floor, allow the subfloor to dry (or replace it if it is damaged as well) and then replace the floor entirely. Often times, we can replace only the damaged area and weave the new planks into the existing floor boards. Then we can sand and refinish the entire floor so everything matches perfectly. This can save you thousands of dollars over replacing the entire floor. Our goal is to repair what we can and replace what we have to. But either way, your wood floors will look brand new when we’re done. To achieve this perfection we must also care about you and your home and protect it properly; dust mitigation, floor protection, mold prevention, wall protection, etc... We will handle everything from start to finish.
WOOD FLOOR FINISHING
The wide variety of available options – varnish, lacquer, wax, pure natural oil and hard-wax oil – can be quite confusing and there are very few that call themselves experts in all of these. In addition, if you then consider how to properly achieve today’s more popular color tones, how do you know which coloring process is best for a specific wood species? We are the experts in all these finishes and we also know the maintenance procedures that go along with them!
In our opinion there is no doubt that to bring out the beauty of the natural tone of wood, the look of a pure natural oiled or hard-wax oiled floor is unrivaled, as is its tactile feel. Natural oil finishes never have to be sanded. By avoiding this, it considerably extends the life of a floor. If your floor is properly maintained they will last a lifetime. They are easy to clean: pH neutral wood floor soap and water are all you need. This finish is also surprisingly resistant – witness the ability of linseed oil to protect a cricket bat that is called upon to withstand the impact of a solid ball bowled at 75mph or more. Natural oil is the greenest and most luxurious option.
